The
Candour Portfolio Service
Please find below
the fund performance figures
for
Candour Consultancy’s Generali
International
portfolios during August 2009.
August proved
to be another good month for the worlds
stock markets with decent gains on all the major indices. Whilst
these gains have originated from a more positive outlook for the
worlds economy, it has to be remembered that there will be
short-term profit taking and this will continue to
create volatility in the
worlds markets for the time being.
To reconfirm the format of new reporting method exclusive
to our Generali policyholders; the new report is four
pages long and provides the policyholder with substantially more
information than the simple performance figures we have been
able to produce in the past.
The first page of the report provides those interested with a
breakdown of where their money is invested; this is broken down
by asset class, country, region and stock sector. It also lists
the top 10 individual stocks held within the portfolio.
The second page charts the performance of the portfolio against
the performance of the MSCI World Index. Simply put, this
compares the performance of your portfolio of funds against the
overall performance of the worlds stock markets.
As the MSCI World Index takes into consideration the performance
of all asset classes (Commodities, Stocks, Bonds, and Cash)
and all markets (The Americas, Europe and Asia), our medium- to
long-term goal is to slightly underperform this index with the lower-risk portfolio;
as this portfolio contains very little exposure to the risky but
rewarding equity and commodity markets. However, we are looking
to slightly
outperform the index with the medium-risk portfolio, and clearly
outperform the index with the higher-risk portfolio.
The third page shows the fund performance figures that we
have always provided but these now also include 5 year
annualised returns as many have asked us to provide longer-term
performance figures. If you are only interested in the
performance of your funds, just look at this page!
The last page provides further explanation to some of the
individual graphs or tables.
